Information and Policies

The Fields

The fields are at the Weber County Fairgrounds. There are signs for the exit in both directions from I-15. Look for Exit 346 to Harrisville, just north of Ogden. Exit going east towards the Defense Depot/Harrisville (toward the mountains). This should put you on W Pioneer Rd. W Pioneer Rd becomes W 400 North. Turn left (North) on 1200 West. Turn right (East) into the fairgrounds. The address of Golden Spike Arena, which is on the fairgrounds, is 1000 N 1200 W, Ogden, UT.

Consumption of Alcohol

The consumption of alcohol at the fields is strictly prohibited! Public consumption is illegal in Utah.

Dogs

Dogs must be under control at all times. Please consider the safety of the dogs and players. Owners must clean up after their animals. Daweena provides "doggie bags" at Disc Central.

Cars

As you might expect, no cars are allowed on the fields.

The Tournament!

·         Rules

We will adhere to the 11th Edition Ultimate Players Association Rulebook (with exceptions as detailed below). During the semi and final games, if either captain desires, passive observers may be used.

·         Time Caps

Soft Cap: The horn will sound a soft cap 25 minutes prior to the start of the next round of play. At the finish of that point, add two to the higher score (or use the initial point cap, which ever is lower), and the first team to reach that score wins the game.

Hard Cap: The horn will sound a hard cap 10 minutes before the next round.  The winner is the team with the highest score at the end of this (or the next) point.

·         Late Starts

The horn will sound to start each round of play. Games must start within 10 minutes of the scheduled time. If one or both teams fail to be able to start at that time, the captain of the aggrieved team is within his or her rights to assess 1 point every five minutes.

Please be considerate of your fellow teams.  People have to fly out Sunday (or make long drives) and with the distance to SLC and the airport check-in times, we need to run on time.

  • Bricks

We intend to put brick marks on every field. If for some reason your field does not have one, use a 15-yard brick.

  • Time Outs

Each team will be given three time outs per game (max of two per half). Each timeout should not exceed 70 seconds before the offense is set again.  After the offense sets, the defense should not take more than 20 seconds to set and start play.  When the soft time cap horn sounds, players complete the current point.  After that, each team is allowed one and only one timeout (if they had at least one left). No time outs are allowed in Hard Cap.

  • Halftimes

Halftime will occur when the first team reaches the half way score plus 1. Halftime will be 5 minutes. Mirror the starting sides at the half.

  • Game Points

All games will be to 13 points on Saturday. Championship Games will be as described on the brackets.

  • BYU Rule

All Saturday results will count even if the team will not be playing on Sunday.  All teams in the affected pools finishing lower than the removed team will have their position increased by one.

Score Sheets!

Please turn in your score sheets to Disc Central before Dinner.

The Party!

The party is at Angelo’s, 130 25th St. (see the map for directions).  We will be providing beer after 8:00, until the kegs run dry or our wallet runs out.

Wristbands!

To get in to the party, you must get a wristband and wear it as proof that you are with our group.  Further, you must be 21 years of age to enter Angelo’s.

Wristbands will be distributed in the captain’s packets.

Alternatives (Under 21 Years of Age):

In case you don’t want to or are too young to head out to Angelo’s, we recommend the following (sorry we won’t be paying for this; it’s up to you):

           Ben Lomond Lanes (Bowling Alley)

           329 Washington Blvd, Ogden

           (801) 399-4464

  1. From N 1200 W turn left (east) onto W 400 N. (0.07 miles)
  2. W 400 N becomes Loffredo St. (0.17 miles)
  3. Turn Right onto N Ward Ave (0.76 miles)
  4. Turn Left onto W 2nd Street (1.28 miles)
  5. Turn Right onto Washington Blvd/US-89 (0.13 miles)

Special Request

Daweena has been bleeding teams as of late.  Please encourage the teams you see this season to support local area tournaments and to consider Daweena in 2009.  Any suggestions or advice on improving the tournament is always welcome.

Special Thanks

Thanks to all the Ultimate players from Salt Lake who contributed to make this tournament happen.  Thanks to Angelo’s and Owen for the Party.  Thanks to Dan and Amanda for the field lining.  Thanks to the Pruddens for the morning food.  Thanks to Keith for the Fields and Catherine for Red Flame.  Thanks to Monika for putting up with me.  And thanks to all the other Salt Lake Ultimate Players who helped out.

And a special thanks to all of the players who traveled from afar to go ho and huck disc on the lush fields of a little known place called Ogden Utah.
